The Curse of the Doll: A New Hindi Ghost Film with a Twist

Hindi-language horror films have been a subgenre of the Hindi film industry in India since the birth of Hindi films. These films tend to mimic the same characteristics and themes as horror films around the world. The themes explored within these films consist of haunted houses, evil spirits and demonic forces. Even though these films are considered to be violent, the public still enjoys them.

Sunil Narang of Sri Venkateswara Cinemas initially wanted to remake the Hindi film Raid (2018) in Telugu with Nagarjuna. Since Narang was also interested in making a full-length action with the film, director Praveen Sattaru conceptualized a new script which features Nagarjuna as a retired RAW officer. Nagarjuna has learnt Krav Maga and Katana sword fighting for this film.[3] The film was officially launched in February 2021 with a traditional pooja ceremony in Secunderabad.[4] The title of the film was announced as The Ghost through a first look poster on 29 August 2021, coinciding with Nagarjuna's birthday.[5][6] Gul Panag is cast in the role of billionaire who is a sister of Nagarjuna's character. The film marks Panag's debut in Telugu cinema.[7]

Three men named David living in different times and places find their lives connected by more than just a shared name. David was filmed simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil, with Jiiva replacing Vinay Virmani in the role of David in 1999 Mumbai in the Tamil version.

Khakee: The Bihar Chapter is created by filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, whose body of work includes examples of almost every genre imaginable. Set in the eastern Indian state of Bihar from 2000-2006, Khakee takes place in a world where cops and gangsters are on opposing sides of a war, with corrupt politicians in between. Will a newly transferred police officer be able to live up to his righteous ideals in a place that demands moral compromise? The show comes with English, Spanish, Tamil, and Telugu dialogue options in the audio menu.

A mélange of post-grad existentialism and ersatz 1950s aesthetics, Ghost World follows Enid (Thora Birch), a disaffected teen living in an unnamed suburb, as she contends with her waning friendship with Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson) and budding attraction to Seymour (Steve Buscemi), a feeble middle-aged record collector. The film may be readily associated with bottle-green hair, passive-aggressive art classes and the general malaise of the early 2000s, but its offbeat energy is most effectively characterised by its first needle drop.

Acting as a rogue team, the four must head to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to retrieve the Russian launch codes and avert total nuclear Armageddon. The city is offering generous incentives to film-makers, and both Fast And Furious 7 and Star Trek Beyond have recently filmed here.

Two ghostbuster brothers are Vibhooti Baba (Saif Ali Khan) and Chiraunji Baba (Arjun Kapoor). While one (Vibhooti) delights in conning people out of their money on the pretense of combating ghosts, the other (Chiraunji) is dissatisfied with this line of work and wishes to leave the business.

27 years ago, Ullat Baba helped his sons get rid of the spirit. This time when Maya comes in search of him, she meets his sons instead. The ghostbuster brothers reach Silawar Tea Estate and find out that the story has some unexpected twists.

Twinkle Khanna spoke about the time her mother Dimple Kapadia told her about an encounter with a ghost at the Jaipur royal palace. Twinkle recently interviewed Rajmata Padmini Devi of Jaipur for her YouTube channel Tweak India, during which they both talked about Dimple's alleged conversation with a ghost. They recalled that Dimple went through the experience, when she spent a night at the Jaipur royal palace during the filming of her 1990 movie Lekin. While Dimple was adamant that it was a ghost she saw that night, Padmini had another explanation for the incident.

Lekin, a drama mystery film by Gulzar, also starred Vinod Khanna, Amjad Khan, and Alok Nath. It featured Dimple as a ghost, Reva. The actor also won a Filmfare Awards trophy for the best actress for her performance.

The Shabana Azmi-Shweta Basu Prasad starrer freaked us out as kids because the film also featured the story of a child, Munni who was trying to help her twin sister escape the evil witch. Did anyone else know that the movie is a Vishal Bhardwaj brainchild? #HitMeWithTheTrivia

Once again kids are involved which makes the story 10x scarier. The film which is based on black magic is quite realistic. Which is what works in its favour. Plus Ahsaas Channa, the kid from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, does a brilliant job.

Bipasha Basu has starred in a bunch of scary Bhatt-camp films but this one was probably the scariest. Set against the backdrop of Ooty, the film features a lot of ominous mist and deep jungle shots for effect.

When the main ghost in the film becomes more famous than the movie itself, you can take that as a metric for success. Manjulika might not have been the darkest, most evil force unlike the other films but the way the movie was made ensured we were scared nonetheless. Also, Vidya Balan was brilliant.
